MEDICATION ASSISTED TREATMENT FOR OPIATE ADDICTION

Success Stories

One of the greatest joys that we experience is to hear the success stories of our patients. These are the stories of those who have combined the will to succeed and the help of our treatment centers to reach their goals to regain dignity and self confidence. This is what we are all about.

I am a 51 year old waitress who has been addicted to opiates for 35 years. I had tried every kind of treatment from NA to Rehab. Methadone has allowed me to live a normal life for the first time in my adult life. In other words-I owe my life to methadone treatment.

I feel normal now. Since I’ve been here everyone tells me that I’ve changed so much for the better. I feel like a new person. I have so much more energy. I think so much more clearly- I feel free! I don’t feel tied down to a drug,

I would like to start off by saying that without the clinic I know I wouldn’t be where I am today. This program has helped me get my life back on track. Also, it has given my relationship with my children back. Hearing my girls tell me they are proud of me on getting help from this program means a lot. It has also made me feel like at least there are people out there that want to help and that understand. They do a good job at that.

I applaud this clinic very much! I just wish more people would understand the good work they do to help people with problems. It would be hard to do this by yourself.

Your whole aspect of life changes. You’re not out there trying to get dope all day long. It’s so much less expensive. I was spending $60 to $70 a day on the street- every day.

I feel like I would have never seen my 3rd child if I hadn’t been on methadone. There are a lot more ups than downs. You’re not paying so much. There are a lot of people that will listen and help you get your life together. I feel like I’ve come a long way. I was walking death before I started. It’s turned my life around for the better…definitely.

It’s the best thing that ever happened to me. I got messed up on drugs. I started coming to the clinic and everything is great.

I feel so much better since I’ve been coming here. I used to wake up every day wondering where I was going to get the next fix. If I didn’t have the money, I would find something in the house to get rid of- DVD player, TV…whatever was of value that I could get money for. But now I have this big relief off my chest. I don’t wake up wanting anymore. I have a better relationship with my family and kids. My husband and I don’t fight as much as before I started coming to the clinic. Life is good and I’m sure it will get even better.

On March of 2000, I became a patient at Western Carolina. My life was in shambles. I couldn’t manage money because of my drug addiction and the quality of life at that point was very poor. When I started the clinic, my life started getting back in order and before I knew it-life was worth living again. My days weren’t constantly spent looking for something to get me through the day. Now, I am going back to school, raising my son (who I had while I was in treatment) and for the first time in a long time I can actually say I’m happy in life. Thanks to WCTC for everything!

I have been on opiate drugs for 28 years and on methadone for about 8 years. My whole life used to be all about drugs, hustling for money to buy drugs then starting all over again. Methadone has allowed me to have a life that is about so many different things. Now I am a mother, a friend, a wife, a daughter and a good citizen in the community. Methadone is not a miracle drug. It takes determination, a lot of counseling and the want to be clean for the methadone to work. If you have those three things methadone will help you.

For now I will stay on methadone, not because I am addicted to it (I’m not) or because I get high on methadone (I don’t) but because to me it’s like taking any other regulated medicine to keep me healthy in mind, body and I’m working on my soul. Thanks for listening and take the step to becoming clean.

I have been a patient here for almost 3 years and have had the best counselors and staff working with me on my treatment. I’ve been on methadone for about 12 years and have experienced many clinics from Florida to North Carolina. In all those years this is the first time I’ve ever been able to lower my dose. I’ve always believed I would be a “lifer” on methadone but for the first time I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel!

I would also like to say that this isn’t like most clinics. Unlike some others I’ve experienced this is not a place to get high in the parking lot or make new connections to cop more dope. If you really want treatment this is the place for you. Special thanks to my counselor Jason, Nurse Michelle and the director Kristen.

As a housewife this clinic has saved my life. I was chasing drugs until I found that I was lost. I tried to get off the pain medicine I was on but could not. I paid not only money, but a part of my life by having to chase my drug addiction. This clinic has made a difference in who I am. With counseling and help from this clinic I have become the woman I was meant to be. I am a good mother, a good person and someone that I can love.

Many thanks!

The Center Of HOPE has helped me so much. I entered the program 3 years ago,
I was in great need of hope and help. I found everything I needed right here with the help of counselors and groups. I would recommend this clinic to anyone that has an addiction. I was tired of being sick and tired!

I started getting treatment at Center of HOPE 4 months after they opened. I came from another treatment center in South Carolina. Transferring here was the best thing that could have happened to me. Now I’m not just a number in a system, I’m a recovering addict getting the help I needed. The counselors, nurse, well everyone have all been great!

Now is my future and I can live day to day without opiates and drugs of any kind. I don’t feel guilty about outside meetings anymore and believe that methadone is my medication just like my blood pressure meds are. I am an addict and the Center of HOPE is the right name for the right place.

I was so sick when I got here and the clinic and staff have literally saved my live. My hat’s off to you!
